Mid-Year Reflections in the Desert: Dream, Plan, Act

As we reach the midpoint of the year here in Phoenix, the heat has once again settled in — and if you’re like most of us, you're already spending more time indoors or in the water, trying to find some kind of balance between staying cool and staying sane.

Summer in the desert tends to bring clarity. The intensity of the season makes it nearly impossible to ignore the limitations of our spaces — the tight layout, the unused room that’s begging for a purpose, the yard that could be more functional, or that pool you’ve been meaning to renovate for years.

I can relate.

Last summer, our family spent countless hours in a popcorned plaster pool that had clearly seen better days. Still, it was where we taught Margot and Hunter to swim — a sweet memory despite the less-than-luxurious setting. That experience pushed us to make a change, and by fall, we took the plunge (literally and figuratively) and upgraded the pool. Now, since early April, our backyard has transformed into a true oasis — and our two little guppies have been living in the water ever since.

That decision wasn’t just about aesthetics — it was about investing in our quality of life, and in the experiences we want to create as a family.

So as you sit inside this summer, maybe you’re feeling a little boxed in too. Or maybe you’re dreaming beyond your current walls — picturing a second home up north where the air is cooler and the pace slower. Whether it’s optimizing your current space or starting the search for something new, summer is the perfect time to pause and ask:

Where do I want to end the year?

Will your home support the holidays you want to host? The peace you need? The memories you hope to create?

These reflections often start small but lead to powerful shifts. I love having these conversations — with past clients, new friends, and anyone feeling unsure about what’s next. And if you know someone confused by the headlines or their home’s potential, please consider introducing us.

This season is for dreaming. But it’s also for planning — and sometimes, for making bold moves.

Let’s talk soon.
